Working in Wanaka
The local conditions that change how we work.
Wanaka driveways need sealing more than most. The UV index here is among the highest in New Zealand and the winter frosts are harder than Queenstown's because we're further from the lake's moderating effect. Both attack unsealed concrete simultaneously. We seal regularly across the Upper Clutha and have tuned our application approach to the local climate — including timing the work to the right seasonal windows for a proper cure.
Whether it's a residential job, a commercial site or a heritage building, we adapt our method to the surface, the exposure and the season. Our team is on the ground in Upper Clutha weekly, call-outs to Wanaka are part of the normal schedule, not a special trip.

Wanaka FAQs
Common local questions.
Is sealing really necessary on a Wanaka driveway?
It significantly extends the life of the slab. Unsealed concrete in Wanaka conditions starts showing surface deterioration within 5-7 years. Sealed concrete typically holds its appearance for 15-20+. The cost of sealing is a fraction of the cost of replacing or resurfacing.
Can you seal a driveway in winter?
Yes within weather windows. Daytime temperatures need to be above 5°C and rising for the sealer to bond, and we need a few hours without rain. We typically schedule sealing for autumn and spring, but winter work is fine in good-weather windows.
What's the difference between a penetrating sealer and a topical sealer?
A penetrating sealer (what we use) soaks into the concrete and bonds with the cement matrix. It doesn't film over the surface, doesn't change the texture, doesn't peel. A topical/film-forming sealer sits on top — looks glossy initially but yellows under UV, peels, and is hard to remove when it fails. For Wanaka conditions, penetrating is the right call.
Do you offer maintenance contracts for property managers?
Yes — we work with several holiday-home and rental management firms across Wanaka. Annual driveway inspection plus a reseal at the right interval keeps high-end rental properties looking the way the owners expect.
