Stone sealing in Queenstown.

Stone work in Queenstown takes a beating — frost, UV, lake spray, the lot. Sealing is what keeps it looking right ten years on. We seal with NZ-made products formulated for this climate, applied by a team that understands both the chemistry and the stone.

Working in Queenstown

The local conditions that change how we work.

A sealer that performs on a Brisbane villa will fail in two winters on a Queenstown schist wall. Our Water Repel and Paving Protect formulas are tested against Queenstown frost cycles and the kind of intense alpine UV that breaks down imported coatings. The result: stone protection that actually lasts 5–10 years in the field, not just in a brochure.

Whether it's a heritage façade or a private residence, we adapt our method to the surface, the exposure and the season. Our team is on the ground in Queenstown Lakes weekly — call-outs to Queenstown are part of the normal schedule, not a special trip.

Queenstown FAQs

Common local questions.

How long does sealed stone last in Queenstown?

Our penetrating sealers typically last 5–10 years on stone in Queenstown's climate, depending on exposure. South-facing walls in heavy shade get the longest life; north-facing surfaces with full sun and frost exposure need refreshing sooner.

Will the sealer change the look of my schist wall?

Standard Water Repel is invisible — the stone looks identical, just shed water like it didn't before. If you want to bring out the natural depth of the colour, we can use Colour Enhancer instead, which gives the stone a subtle wet-look without going glossy.

Can I seal stone in winter, or do I need to wait?

We seal year-round in Queenstown. The substrate needs to be dry and above ~5°C for the product to bond properly — we work around that. Winter sealing actually gives the product time to cure before the worst UV hits in summer.

Do you seal recently-installed schist or is it only for restoration?

Both. New schist installations should ideally be sealed within the first 6–12 months — before lichen and salt deposits get established. We work with several Queenstown stonemasons and landscapers as the aftercare partner on new builds.
