Beach Street Queenstown Shop Fronts

We carried out the cleaning and sealing of multiple retail shop fronts along Beechwood Street in central Queenstown. The buildings feature Oamaru stone, a soft and breathable natural limestone commonly used on commercial facades throughout New Zealand. While visually striking, the stone is highly porous and vulnerable to moisture absorption, staining, and surface deterioration if left untreated. The stone surfaces were first professionally cleaned to remove built-up contaminants, grime, and environmental deposits. Care was taken to clean the stone without damaging the surface or altering its natural appearance. Once fully dry, the facades were sealed using RTS No.4 penetrating treatment. This sealer penetrates deep into the stone rather than forming a surface film, allowing the material to remain breathable while providing strong protection against water ingress and staining. The treatment preserves the natural look of the Oamaru stone while significantly improving durability and reducing future maintenance requirements. The completed work provides the retail buildings with a clean, refined finish and long-term protection suited to Queenstown’s harsh weather and temperature fluctuations.
