Exposed aggregate sealing · Queenstown & Wanaka

Exposed aggregate sealing, that brings out the stone.

Exposed aggregate is the textured concrete finish you see on most Queenstown driveways and patios — concrete poured with the surface stones left visible. We seal it with penetrating chemistry that enhances the natural colour, locks out moisture, and protects against the freeze-thaw cycles that pull the stones loose from unsealed surfaces.

Aggregate we seal

Every aggregate surface needs the right sealer.

  • Aggregate driveways

The most common application — and the one where sealing matters most. Tyre traffic, oil drips, frost cycles and UV all attack unsealed aggregate. Sealing locks the surface and dramatically extends its appearance lifespan.

  • Aggregate patios

Outdoor entertaining areas where the aggregate texture is part of the design. Sealing brings out the natural stone colour and stops the matrix between stones from eroding.

  • Pool surrounds

Aggregate around pools needs a sealer that handles chlorine and repeated wetting without affecting slip-rating. We choose products formulated specifically for that environment.

  • Commercial forecourts

Café terraces, retail entrances and commercial alfresco areas. Sealed aggregate handles foot traffic and cleaning routines better than unsealed.

  • Reseal of older aggregate

Aggregate sealed years ago and now looking tired can usually be re-coated. We assess what's there, deep-clean it, and apply a fresh penetrating seal.

  • New aggregate after install

Sealing within the first month after the 28-day cure protects the surface from its first winter. Builders increasingly include sealing in the handover spec.

How we work

Slow when it matters, fast when it doesn’t.

  • 01

    On-site assessment

We come and look at the surface in person. Identify the substrate, test a small area, and work out what the surface actually needs.

  • 02

    Tailored method

Soft wash, steam, mild alkaline cleaner, biocide treatment, chosen for your surface, not from a one-size-fits-all playbook.

  • 03

    Careful application

Low-pressure equipment that won't damage the substrate. Plant protection. Spot-testing as we go.

  • 04

    Optional sealing

Once clean, a breathable sealer extends the result and protects against future moss, salt and water damage.
