Concrete sealing in Queenstown.

Concrete sealing across Queenstown — driveways, patios, alfresco areas and pool surrounds. We use Paving Protect, our own NZ-made penetrating sealer, formulated for the freeze-thaw cycles and alpine UV that make this region tough on concrete.

Working in Queenstown

The local conditions that change how we work.

Queenstown's freeze-thaw cycle is the single biggest enemy of unsealed concrete. Water gets into the slab during the day, freezes overnight, expands, and pries the surface apart. Five winters of that and you've got spalling, scaling and aggregate exposure that wasn't designed to be there. A penetrating sealer pushes water out of the slab before the freeze starts. We've been sealing concrete here for years and our formulations are tuned to the conditions.

Whether it's a residential job, a commercial site or a heritage building, we adapt our method to the surface, the exposure and the season. Our team is on the ground in Queenstown Lakes weekly, call-outs to Queenstown are part of the normal schedule, not a special trip.

Queenstown FAQs

Common local questions.

When can I seal newly poured concrete in Queenstown?

After a minimum 28-day cure. Sealing earlier traps moisture that's still leaving the slab and causes adhesion problems. For winter pours we sometimes recommend 35-45 days depending on temperatures during the cure.

How often should I reseal my Queenstown driveway?

Most residential driveways need a re-coat every 3-5 years. Properties in heavy frost areas, or driveways that get a lot of UV with no shade, sit on the lower end of that range. We'll tell you on the day whether it's due — there's no benefit in sealing too early.

Will the sealer change the colour or texture of my concrete?

Paving Protect is a penetrating sealer, not a film. It enhances the existing colour slightly (especially on exposed aggregate) but doesn't change the texture and doesn't go glossy. If you want a wet-look enhancement we have a separate Colour Enhancer product.

Can you seal around my pool without making it slippery?

Yes. We use formulations specifically rated for pool surrounds — they protect against chlorine and pool chemicals without compromising slip-rating. A spot test on your specific surface confirms the finish before we do the full area.
